Michelle's background blends hands-on museum work with creating art that reflects personal and cultural stories.
She has partnered with many public and charter schools providing arts-based counseling. Her field work centered around
Michelle is currently in charge of leading interdisciplinary learning programs for diverse family groups, while also managing and mentoring a team of art educators with varied experience levels. Her work centers on building thoughtful frameworks for curriculum development, supporting educators, and finding a meaningful balance between creative freedom, shared goals, quality standards, and providing programming that reflects the diversity of the five boroughs. As part of this work, she partners with New York–based artists to co-develop engaging, family-centered programming rooted in collaboration and experimentation.
Michelle holds a Master’s degree in Psychology and Counseling from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, where her studies focused on trauma-informed, culturally inclusive, arts-based counseling. This educational foundation continues to shape her approach, using art as a tool for connection, emotional growth, and care.
Awards & Fellowships
During her time at New York University, Michelle was awarded the Adrian Levy Scholarship, the New York State School Counselor Association (NYSSCA) Scholarship, and the Monroe Stein Fellowship, which honors individuals dedicated to supporting children and youth. These recognitions reflect her commitment to using art and education as tools for care, access, and empowerment.

Alongside her educational work, Michelle maintains a personal art practice. Her small collection, Diálogos con la Naturaleza / Dialogues with Nature, was exhibited at Arawak Art Gallery in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
